Changing the Canada Student Loan Program’s eligibility requirement in 2020-21 to allow more students to qualify for supports and be eligible for greater amounts.

a. For post-secondary students and recent graduates who are ineligible for CERB or EI, but who are unable to find full-time employment or are unable to work due to COVID-19.
b. What do you recieve?
* $1250 per month for eligible students from May to August 2020.
* $1750 per month for eligible students with dependents and those with permanent disabilities.

a. Recognize student’s significant contributions to COVID-19 efforts.
b. Provide up to $5000 to support student’s post-secondary education costs in the fall.

Now allows international students to work more than the maximum of 20 hours per week only if they are
working in an essential service.

Alberta Student Loan repayments will be paused for 6 months, beginning March 30, 2020.
Interest will not accrue during this period. This mirrors the approach of the Canada Student Loans Program.
Students do not need to apply for the repayment pause.
